Her interest in medicine and healthcare led her to help part-time at St. Agnes Hospital pharmacy for several years while attending summer school at Marian College and, ultimately, to complete her bachelors degree in pharmacy. This school, located near the Cabrini Green public housing units, offered at-risk students a quality education and required total engagement of the staff to accomplish the task. Her family moved to Beloit, Wisconsin, where Nancy grew up with her brother and the foster children her parents cared for until they found a permanent home. In the remaining years of her active ministry, Sister Martina helped those in need in a variety of ways. With her health declining, Sister Joan was moved to St. Francis Home in April 2013. Sister ministered for 14 years in Food Service at The Leo House, New York City, where her baking skill was a welcome addition for sisters and guests alike. Sister Mary Alice wanted to be a teacher from an early age, hoping to develop better methods to help children learn than those from her own experience of rote learning amid strict discipline. She also earned several certificates in religious education. For over twenty years, Sister Suzanne volunteered once a week at the Salvatorian Mission Warehouse in New Holstein, Wisconsin, working side by side with the founder, Brother Regis Fust, SDS, Sister Dora Zapf, SDS, and other volunteers packing supplies of clothing, furniture, paper products, food and medical supplies for Catholic missionaries in 14 countries around the world, including the Sisters of St. Agnes serving in Latin America. In 2014 Sister Rose returned to Fond du Lac where she energetically engaged in numerous opportunities to volunteer. In 1967, desiring a more contemplative lifestyle, Sister Ann worked at the Renewal Center of the University of Steubenville, Steubenville, Ohio, serving as Director of Retreats and offering counseling part-time.
